Mexico City's Food Scene
Insider Eats
We love to gather around a table and break bread, and no city has shown us more love, flavor, and originality than Mexico City. Many of our friends were born and raised there, and some of us have family and apartments in the city.
To us, CDMX offers the perfect balance between ancestral and traditional Mexican food while embracing and blending with a modern global world. Like most large cities in Latin America, CDMX is a melting pot of influences, people, and tastes, which keeps the culture alive.
Besides shooting most of our campaigns there, we have had many of our best meals in CDMX, and today, we wanted to share some of our favorite spots.
Sartoria: A haven for Italian cuisine lovers, Sartoria is known for its handmade pastas and rich, flavorful sauces. The cozy ambiance makes it perfect for a relaxed dining experience.
Meroma: This upscale spot blends modern Mexican cuisine with international influences. The seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and the chef’s attention to detail in every dish are the highlights.
Cicatriz: A trendy café by day and bar by night, Cicatriz is a favorite for its laid-back vibe. It serves creative sandwiches, salads, and cocktails, all emphasizing fresh ingredients.
Pizza Félix: Known for its wood-fired pizzas, Pizza Félix brings a slice of New York to Mexico City. The thin-crust pizzas are a must-try, and the casual setting makes it an excellent spot for groups.
Contramar: Famous for its seafood, particularly the tuna tostadas and grilled fish, Contramar is an institution in Mexico City. The fresh and vibrant flavors make it a must-visit for seafood lovers.
Botánico: A beautiful, plant-filled space with a farm-to-table approach, Botánico offers a health-conscious menu focused on local, sustainable ingredients, perfect for those seeking fresh and balanced meals.
Mi Compa Chava: This laid-back seafood spot serves up fresh ceviche and aguachile, bringing the vibrant flavors of the Pacific coast right to Mexico City.
San To: A Mesobis favorite, San To’s fusion of Japanese and Mexican flavors is unforgettable. For our friends in California, don’t miss their Silverlake location—Eater’s #1 spot in LA.
Rosetta: Located in a stunning historic building, Rosetta’s menu blends Italian and Mexican flavors with seasonal ingredients and handmade pasta.

🌮 Late Night Taco Crawl – Mexico City’s streets come alive after dark, and there’s nothing like a taco crawl to satisfy your midnight munchies. Hit up places like El Vilsito and Los Cocuyos for some of the best late-night tacos in town.
🍸 Pulque: Mexico’s Ancient Brew – Before there was mezcal and tequila, there was pulque. This traditional fermented drink made from agave has a rich history and is making a comeback in cool cantinas around the city. It’s worth a taste!
🍫 Churros & Chocolate at El Moro – This iconic spot has been serving up crispy churros and thick, rich hot chocolate since 1935. Perfect for when that sweet tooth hits.
🎨 Frida Kahlo Museum – Pair your foodie adventures with a visit to Casa Azul, the home-turned-museum of iconic artist Frida Kahlo. It’s a perfect stop to soak in some culture between meals.
